The 8th Annual Walk to Fight Arthritis takes place Sunday, June 4 in Brandon at the Riverbank Discovery Centre. Be part of a cross-Canada community coming together to raise funds for arthritis research and build awareness.
Community Awareness Coordinator
Coordinator manages activities that raise public awareness and understanding of The Arthritis Society and The Walk to Fight Arthritis in the local community. This includes strengthening relationships with the community through networking opportunities, speaking to companies and community groups, holding public information sessions, and attending local events to promote the Walk.
Coordinator manages aspects of The Walk’s entertainment before, during and after the Walk. This includes coordination and preparation of entertainment, warm-up, guest speakers, speeches, awards ceremonies, Family Fun Zone and arranging required staging and sound equipment.
Coordinator manages committee activities aimed at recruiting past and new individuals and teams of walkers to The Walk to Fight Arthritis. This includes developing strategies to re-engage past walkers and identify prospects and developing strategies for recruitment. You will lead the committee in supporting new registered individuals.
Coordinator manages aspects of registration before, during and after the Walk. This includes coordination and preparation of all registration and donation forms, as well as local money handling, ensuring appropriate security measures and training of event day volunteers.
Coordinator manages aspects of the set-up and take-down of the Walk site, to include site and route layout; ordering supplies like tables, chairs and portable toilets; parking sites; signage; transportation (shuttle service) and accessibility.
Coordinator works with the committee to determine volunteer needs for event day and support positions. They manage all aspects of recruitment, placement, scheduling, and recognition of event day volunteers. This includes event day check in and out, liaison with other logistic coordinators, handing and providing orientation as required.
Committee Support Volunteer
Assist and support the planning committee Coordinators, by contributing to the activities of one or more subcommittees. These positions are ideally suited to volunteers who may not be comfortable with the level of responsibility required by a coordinator, but who wish to assist with the organizing of the Walk. Specific tasks will vary depending on the committee and Walk location.
