The Royal Canadian Artillery Museum (The RCA Museum)

 

  • The RCA Museum (Royal Canadian Artillery Museum) an award winning national artillery museum has five major galleries and more than 30 vehicles and guns located outside in The Gun Park. Located at CFB Shilo, we have recently introduced a temporary exhibit with guns and vehicles that came into service during the 1950s to 1970s.  We have included a M38A1CDN2 Jeep, M113A2 APC, C1 105mm Howitzer and Grizzly AVGP.  These vehicles will be on display in The Gregg Gallery until the end of April. All guns and vehicles have interpretive signs in French and English. The museum is wheelchair accessible.  Museum hours are 10:00 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. Admission is charged. The Brandon Public Library is pleased to offer an English Conversation Group for anyone learning English. In this free program, English learners and native English-speakers will gather once a week to discuss different topics. The group is casual, and a good way to make new friends. Improve your listening and speaking skills, your grammar, vocabulary, and confidence in conversation.

Healthy Lake Ice Fishing Derby

The Healthy Lake Committee will be hosting our fifth annual ice fishing derby in the northern basin of Pelican Lake on Saturday, March 3, 2018. Entry fee is $30 if you pre-register or $40 on the day of the derby, and kids 15 and under are free. Derby day: Check-in is at 8:00 am and will be located on the ice just off the Terry Fox Park parking lot in Ninette, MB. Fishing will be from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm with prizes to be awarded after that. Hot lunch and beverages will be available for purchase. We are pleased to announce that our top prize for the longest fish caught in the Adult (paid) Category this year will be a 2017 Can Am Outlander 450 ATV! Pre-register AND pay before February 26th and be entered in to the early bird draw to win an Outbound Crystal 2 Ice Fishing Shelter! Bring out the entire family for a fun day of fishing! The Marquis Project and the Brandon Fair Trade Committee are pleased to announce the Fair Trade Feast Fundraiser on Sunday, March 11, 2018. 

The Dock is providing creative menu design, food preparation and hosting; Ten Thousand Villages has provided many of the ingredients:

  • ·         Appetizer: Coconut breaded black tiger shrimp with pineapple salsa and a mango jalapeno sauce. (Vegetarian option coconut breaded cauliflower).
  • ·         Entree: Coffee rubbed petite tenderloin of beef with crushed baby potatoes and roasted parsnips and carrots finished with a red wine reduction. (Vegetarian: Coffee rubbed portabella mushroom).
  • ·         Dessert: Milk chocolate panna cotta with mint and vanilla infused whipped cream and fresh blueberry compote.

Come have a great time with some great ladies.  Make some new friends and learn some new card making techniques.  Sending a card is a quick and inexpensive way to brighten someone’s day!  We will make 4 handmade cards using the “Lots of Lavender” bundle from Stampin' UP!  All skill levels and all are welcome to attend.
