World Poetry Day:
Poetry in Many Languages
Monday, March 20th, 7:00 – 9:00 pm at the Brandon Public Library.
Bring a poem written by a published dead poet, in any language, and read or recite it at this event, in honour of poetry cultures around the world. You may add the English translation (if it’s in another language), or just briefly introduce the subject of the poem and let us enjoy its cadences in another language. Please respect the context and restrict your reading and commentary to a celebration of world poetry through the ages, in 5 minutes or less.
We encourage poetry from as many languages and cultures as possible for this event!
*EVERYONE WELCOME * FREE ADMISSION * REFRESHMENTS * BRING YOUR FRIENDS! *
“The dissemination of poetry helps to promote dialogue among cultures and understanding between peoples because it gives access to the authentic expression of language.” Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO, sponsor of World Poetry Day since 1999.
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Brandon Public Library, 710 Rosser Ave, Unit 1
