Tundra Oil & Gas is Manitoba-based oil and gas exploration and Production Company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Winnipeg-based James Richardson & Sons, Limited. Tundra’s head office is located in Winnipeg and has offices in Virden and Calgary. Tundra is recognized as the largest oil producer in Manitoba, has invested close to 3 billion dollars since 1980, creating jobs and economic activity while in the process of exploring for oil in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. 

Tundra is seeking an IT Technical Analyst in our Virden, Manitoba office.

As part of Tundra’s vibrant Innovation & Technology team, this role supports over 300 employees and 700 devices across 20+ locations, aiding in the exploration and production of oil.  Tundra values the investment in technology and is an early adopter of many forms of new technology to support its operations.  This spans from tablet computers to IoT devices to data analytics.  Further to the primary responsibilities of user support and supporting technologies used throughout our oilfields, driven Technical Analysts get exposure to a variety of projects, implementations, research and testing, and find themselves engaged in infrastructure, security and transformation related activities.

The Technical Analyst is primarily responsible for:

•Handling support requests finding effective resolution to these issues.  This includes deskside support at offices and visiting various field sites.

•Maintaining and upgrading technology including computers, peripherals and applications. 

•Conducting research on products, services, standards and good practices.

•Finding proactive ways of empowering our users to become self-sufficient with technologies including training, self-help guides and a knowledge base.


Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

•Relatable experience with business technology.

•Degree or Diploma in the field of information technology. Microsoft, CompTIA and ITIL certifications are an asset.

•Strong customer service and communication skills.

•Strong problem solver with a keen attention to detail. 


Working Conditions: 

•Required to drive to a variety of work sites using company vehicles.

•Possible exposure to potential hazards e.g. toxic chemicals such as hydrogen sulfide.

•Required to be on call on a rotating basis.
