Voicemail

I called this week and I forget what exactly their voicemail said but they're either renovating that building or moving into another building which is currently being renovated. So for the time being they only had a few services they were doing (which the voicemail listed) and asked you to leave a message if you wanted someone to call you back to book an appointment for one of them. I called to book a massage and that wasn't one of the selections so I didn't really listen to the exact details.

oh i hope

I really hope they are upgrading with more spa services and stuff! They were nice before but Brandon needs a really good spa! I know its dreaming but the Ten Spa in Winnipeg is just amazing and even a little of that flare in Brandon would be nice. Excited to see!

Update?

I've been trying to contact the spa since before summer. I understand they were to be doing renovations but the Voicemail is full and no one has responded which makes me wonder if they have gone out of business? Does anyone have further information?

Yes it is frustrating not having any answers,I have a gift certificate that runs out soon , I haven't been able to get there to use it.

Do you have any further news? Seems odd that they have not maintain communication with their customers during a "renovation"?

Gift Certificates

don't expire in Manitoba anymore, its a newer law, I'm not sure if it goes retroactively if your GC is from a while ago..
Anyway yes a status update would be nice!

Gift Cards

Never give gift cards. Because you give your money so they can collect interest on it and some day I will shop at your store, maybe if I don't misplace it. If you are giving gift cards just give cash, It is good everywhere.
Lets use Tims for an example. If one out of five customers have Tims cards, how much money is Tims holding in their bank from everyone.

All that were given to me had an expiration date on it and it was Dec 2nd and I called several times .I had a few to use and never got to use this one ,shame because it was worth $100.

expiration

Don't throw them out. I have no clue what is going on here specifically..... but I am confident that T would honour the gift certificates still. Don't quote me.... but I had a similar incidence with her and such an issue in the past.

can somebody

Anybody know the owner? Could she give folks an update on ebrandon what is the status of the spa and if gift certificates coming or recently passed expiration will still be viable? Can Adam find this out? Instead of heresy would be nice to have legitimate viable information.

That is the problem if she came on and made statement on what is going on it would not be gossip.

People are just looking for legitimate information , as customers does she not owe that to them?

gift cards experiring

Gift cards can not legally expire if they are purchased. ( this law was changed back in 2008 or 2009) If a company donates a gift card to say a silent auction, or a staff party etc, these do expire. (They are the exception to the rule.)
On a another side note if you have a gift card and a business closes its doors your gift card is potentially no good. So if you have them use them.

customer service

It is unreasonable to expect people to just "be patient" when they have paid for services that have been unavailable for many months. Messages and requests for information by customers have gone unanswered, and I know many people that will not return even if they do reopen at this point.

Escape

I had sent a message to the owner’s business email address on November 19 pointing out this discussion and asking if there's information they'd like me to pass along. I really hope that everything's okay and am hopeful of hearing back soon. A lot of folks are clearly interested in making use of the services that this long-time Westman business is well-known and respected for offering.

There are enough replies in this discussion that would back the thought that this is all temporary and it's certainly the owner's right to not answer if not prepared to do so, however have sent the following questions this evening to provide further opportunity for clarification:

---------------

Hi (owner name),

Just as a followup to the last message....
I hope you'll consider posting a followup or sharing a statement that I can post and attribute to yourself. I feel that well-meaning folks are asking fair questions regarding timelines and gift certificate validity and would like the opportunity for those questions to be clarified with information straight from yourself. Based on usage of the discussion there is clearly a lot of interest in the answers.

Specifically:

1) Customers have indicated not being able to be in contact with Escape to arrange for services offered. Is the business currently accepting bookings?

2) If bookings are being accepted, which services can be booked at the moment and how may folks get in touch to book?

3) If not, is there information to pass along as far as the current state of the business? Are renovations taking place? Is there an estimated time of re-opening? Is there an indication of how expired gift certificates will be addressed in the future? Is there any amendment to expiry date stated on certificates? Is there opportunity to be in contact to obtain refund with proof of purchase?

thanks very much for any information you can share

I don't understand

What all the subterfuge is about. If you are reopening - they say so in a proper memo to the public. If you are closing, then close and don't mislead - but that does not seem the case here.

I have a client who said she was in for a facial there a couple of weeks ago, so obviously SOMETHING is happening.

Just seems like extremely poor behavior from a company that supposedly is reopening after doing some renovations. You have people trying for months to get answers who have valid gift certificates, but calls not being returned. GC's cannot by law expire, and customers just want answers. I think people prefer the truth and can be more patient with the truth than getting run around and listening to gossip because that is all that is out there.

Seems to be creating a bit of ill will in the way it is being handled and that could hurt more in the long run.

JMO of course.

Spa

How long have they been closed now? Terrible customer service to not provide any updates to customers and just leave them hanging. Even if they do re-open, I think they'll have a hard time getting their customers back after this.

give an update already!

Adam first reached out the the business on Nov.19 (as previously posted in this thread) and since then, there has been no response. If they do reopen their doors, I feel as though once loyal customers will have already gone elsewhere. Very poor customer rapport.

building is for sale

The property is listed for sale on BREB. I can't imagine it is reopening? I think you people might be SOL unfortunately.

today

I was actually in the building today and low and behold the lights were on and there was a person at the desk. There was also a customer in the building. Not sure if they are open or not. Wouldn't hurt to try calling tomorrow.

Escape

I was able to connect with the owner this morning. I gather that the email account at the escapebrandon.com website domain for the business (which is what I had used) is no longer something that's used.

Escape is in fact accepting new bookings by appointment only. To book you can phone 204 728 7400 and leave a message. Make sure that is the phone number you're using as there's another previous number that might still be in some places online. I was told that messages at the 728 7400 number are monitored regularly and that you will receive a call back to discuss making your appointment and confirm details. People can redeem gift certificates for these bookings.

Services they are offering include facials, body treatments, journey of the senses and water massage.

The only comment on what might transpire next after the building is sold is that established clientele are aware of the changes.

I know for some that that might not bring complete clarity, but at the least it should clarify how Escape is doing business in the interim. If I hear of further updates I will pass along.

bizarre

What a bizarre response.. but glad to see people with gift certificates have some answers and should be able to book in.
