Clowns

I've heard mention of one up on the North Hill, and another last week in Betty Gibson school yard. The one at Betty Gibson was holding a chain. Havent heard of anything actually happening with them though.
But these are hearsay, I've never actually seen one myself.
There is also a group on Instagram called the brandon clowns... Sounds like a group of teenagers just following clown posts, but I'm not positive what they're about. They could just be harmless.

mostly all harmless

From the looks of it on the news they're all harmless teenagers who think they're hilarious scaring people. The new trend seems to be people beating them up. They don't think they're so funny when that happens. What a stupid trend, not only are they just getting themselves hurt but they're hurting the business of real professional clowns.

...

Oh yay. Internet hysteria strikes Brandon.

99% of the stuff online is BS/hearsay (like this thread)
0.05% is old Tim Curry video clips.
0.04% is videos & crap made by idiots who think they are cool.
0.01% is real to the extent of violence.

I was irked when a local radio station posted on FB asking if anyone has spotted any clowns in town. I'm irked reading the posts on this thread. Just give your heads a shake and leave the clowns alone!!

Well I''m not sure of anyone else, but I first heard of this new clown trend on the news, not the Internet. Even just a couple days ago, it was on ctv Edmonton, and there have been a lot of issues in Waterloo the last couple days. So this clown situation is not all BS. Yes you are correct, that the extent of violence is virtually nil, however being out there scaring the crap out of people is not just a small thing either. Someone is going to get seriously hurt, although it most likely will be the clowns.
I''d like to be informed of the situation, and what to look for, for myself and my children.
And the local radio station is asking, because other news sites around Canada have been reporting their stories.
Just my opinion as your entitled to yours!

stop that

Everybody gives so many sh.. About those "scarry clowns" and all you do is give idiots like them more power. They are nothing more than people that have nothing better to do in there life. They are neither dangerous nor scary.

Lmbo "clowns of brandon sorry couldn't help but laugh to that name ...how appropriate considering all the bs happening in the city lately. The actual clown crap is ridiculous though and pretty lame.

clown craze

You know, if people stop talking about if there are clown sittings, how else are we supposed to know if this is still happening or not. Local radio stations want to inform people to be prepared and tell people "hey this is still happening so lock your doors!" I hear people say all the time, "stop talking about them, they'll go away." No, they won't, this isn't a social media thing. This is just scaring the shit out of people for fun. Mostly harmless teenagers who want to do something 'fun' but some of these people could in fact be psychopaths and you'll never know who's who so just be careful. Some people have been killed or seriously hurt by psychopath clowns.

Ridiculous.

Whoever is doing this needs to stop before they ruin a good thing. Leave the scaring to those of us who run professional haunts.

Right on

And leave the professional clowning to the professional clowns.

Scaring people/kids while wearing clown masks can lead to a fear of clowns. Professional clowns don't wear masks.

Professional clowns

... are properly trained as to how to not be scary. They put on makeup in a certain way. e.g. they don't use a lot of big flashy colour around the eyes. They have rounded smiles, not angular and pointy. They are trained to back away and give a child space if they aren't comfortable. They are trained to bring smiles to people's faces. e.g. they visit children in hospitals.

Just because someone puts on a costume, they are not actually a clown. Many who just dress up in a clown costume have good intentions. e.g. they dress up for a parade and hand out candy. But they are just people in a clown costume. Actual clowns are professionally trained.

And all this creepy clown BS is making clowning a dying art. Imagine if creepy cops became a craze or creepy nurses or doctors. It would make those who are in the profession have a very difficult time to do the good work that they do.
