Not funny

The poor farmers will likely be charged with forceable confinement. In my opinion they shoulda shot him and dumped the body in the bush for the coyotes to eat.

The charge will be minimal (compared to murder) and worth it in my opinion. I'd have done the same in a heartbeat. Way to go boyz!

Love it, its awesome when you get justice for a crime before the courts try dealing out their little slap.

I would do the same thing. People taking things that aren't theirs really p's me off! I remember when I was a kid my brother's bike got stolen when we were camping. The kid that stole it then had the nerve to ride by our campsite on it. My dad and uncle hopped in the truck and chased him down. Put the bike in the back and brought the kid back to the campsite while we called the cops. The cops didn't do anything so we let the kid go. A little while later he rode by on a different bike.

way to go guys . unfortunately , this being canada , the farmers will most likely be charged and the "poor innocent thief" will get a slap on the wrist and be sent merrily on his way . and they wonder why law enforcement is held in such low regard .

citizens arrest

Citizens arrest. If the guy swung a crow bar at him its justifiable to tie him up. The guys used a weapon in a robbery.

i think the farmers were within their right to detain, but i love the warning at the bottom from sarg lol

"The Criminal Code provides for a certain level of use of force to protect property, but anyone using force ... has to be cognizant of the fact they could be charged," he said.

Thumbs Up

Kudos to the farmer and his son for doing their part in capturing the idiot. He shouldn't have been on their private property to begin with little own attempting to steal yet more fuel. He deserved what he got. I do not agree with the possibility of the man and his son being charged. They took action and did what was necessary. They helped to detain a criminal; there sure isn't anything wrong with that!

@Torco (and Hawg Wylde, I guess)

It isn't murder if there is no body.... LOL.

You might want to have another crack at reading the laws of the land.

As the police officer quoted in the article said, "The Criminal Code provides for a certain level of use of force to protect property, but anyone using force ... has to be cognizant of the fact they could be charged."

I think murder falls a little higher than "a certain level [...] of force".

thats classic

i grew up out there and that happens all the time. but you have to be pretty stupid to do it in the middle of the day. farmer will sometimes do anything to get that guy. because its not just them your stealing from but everyone else around them. justice will do right.

Funny story

Dumb farmer could have got killed or badly hurt over what...some gas; then you get wing nuts on here suggesting murder, feeding him to the coyotes...again, over gas...gotta be some kinda dumb to suggest that.

Anybody see the movie Dumb and Dumber and Dumbest?

Makes ya wonder about the people living in your own community, doesn't it?

Ouch Gramps

Are you suggesting that we should all stand back while thieves steal from paying citizens? We need to take our streets back. F**k the justice system!

I love to see justice served as much as anyone but i have to agree with Gramps. Imagine the family’s grief if one of those men had been killed... over a tank of gas....

Fuel tanks can be locked and surveillance systems are now cheap and easy to install.

Just suggesting you use your head and refrain from making assinine statements that take all the guess work out of identifying your lack of intelligence...that's all.

Follow the 3 S's
1: Shoot
2: Shovel
3: Shut up

All joking aside this is great to hear stories like this. We have had gas stolen and it may only be 20 bucks out of pocket but nothing pisses you off more for he rest of the year.

40 minutes with no pants? They're lucky he didn't get frostbitten!!! Restraining him is one thing but putting his health in jeopardy is crossing the line!! Leave his punishment to the courts. Vigilante justice is ILLEGAL!!!

Stealing

Is also illegal and courts do nothing but encourage that behavior. In a few years it will be against the law to get police to respond to theft. Criminals are winning and winning fast here in Canada. There just is nothing for them to be afraid of anymore aside from an isolated hog tie incident.

Vigilante justice is illegal...but it works!! Good for the farmer. I've had gas stolen too and nothing pisses you off more! Serves the bastard right!

frost bite

"The duo then dropped the man, who was wearing pyjama pants but no underwear, onto the snow and "his bare ass was hanging out," Kris said." from the report

I take this as his pants fell down the farmers did not pull them down. Either way the thief should have listened to his mother "Always wear clean underwear."

Justice?

Let's just cut his hands off , that way he can't do it again. That's justice isn't it? It's a slippery slope from revenge for an injustice to outright cruelty and death camps.

shouldn't have done anything?

look I have been robbed it sucks, and it dose piss you off, and it acctuly always dose.

1) if they didn't do anything they would have been robbed again, and the guy might not have been cought and lived to see anouther day

2) if one of them got killed at least the cops would do more to catch him, if he was still cought he deffinitly would be put away. not saying the family would be happy but justice would be served. still im not making excuses it would have been horrible for anyone to loose there life.

If they do get charged it will be minamle.
