Callus on Elbows

I have a larger breed dog that has developed callus' on his elbows. He has taken to scratching them with his back legs and then licking them when they bleed. Google tells me this is a common problem with larger breed dogs. He has a bed, but prefers the floor because it is cooler and google tells me that this is one of the causes of the callus developing. But has anyone had any luck treating them at home or somehow helping the dog with the uncomfortability and itching then licking?

your local veterinarian

can get a product called Dermoscent Balm in for you (if they don't already have it on the shelf). It is FANTASTIC for hyperkeratosis! A tub will likely cost you around $20 but will last a very long time as you don't need much per application!

I actually chatted with my groomer who chatted with the vet who said the exact same thing. We got some of this product and it is amazing. In 2-3 days it was so much better already.
