BPS Complaint

So, I called BPS about 45 minutes ago...neighbors having a bonfire, playing loud music while drinking and screaming at the top of their lungs for over 2 hours..apparently my complaint isn't enough to warrant them coming and taking care of this issue.

I can understand more important things are probably being attended too, but almost an hour?

Should have called the fire department. No fire pit permit hehehe. Last year the fire department was over the area Pumper truck and all looking for those smoking out the area!

It would be interesting to find out what area of town that is/was. Seems some areas response times are better.

@ 1 in the morning they probably should have responded to that.

They almost seem like a lost cause at times. Finally the Brandon Sun let it go to print that many of us citizens would like to see them crack down on the ridiculous driving habits that are being allowed.

Is it shift change between 7:30 and 8:00? If it is do you think maybe you should change your shifts to serve and protect us better? That's when all these maniacs are going to work. I will probably see no less than half a dozen infractions on my drive to work this morning, and every other morning this week.

Keep an eye on this site. Should be some openings hopefully soon.

mess up morning traffic in most cases, and there has to be some allowance for driver error. I KNOW there isn't anyone in Brandon who drives 100% legal, in most cases I would say 75% sholdn't even own a car!

As for your noise complaintif this is something you call regularly about I can see maybe they don't get concerned with multiple calls, if it's a first time, their probably waiting for another neighbour or a real reason to crack down. We were all young once and all probably ruined somebody's sleep....if it keeps happening then really make a stink

They come

out when you offer to go solve the issue yourself. Just from past experience.

You would

be surprised at just how busy the police are at that hour. Things are starting to rock and roll at the bars and other bad things that happen in peoples homes.
A noise complaint isnt going to be high on the priority list, sorry.

They do have an over lapping shift change so there are always officers on the street....give them a break...they are only so many officers and they cant be everywhere all the time.

Try Just Asking

Did you ever think to just phone BPS and ask what "happened with my complaint"? I happen to know for a fact that 2 police cars attended the bonfire/noisy party.

it works both ways. People are never happy. You ask them to ticket the people who are speeding, running lights and being idiots on the road, then when people do get tickets it's like they can't believe they are getting charged and fight it all the way in court!

Shift change has NOTHING to do with service provided either, there is always coverage.

Well that is the public's right. The judicial system is there for highway traffic offenses as well as criminal ones.

Not all cops are saints and write "perfect" tickets I'm sure you get paid to attend court.

Probably didn't bother

Because if it really bothered you that much you could have gone over yourself and politely asked them to be a bit quieter yourself.

And their are probably quite a number of other more important things to tend to than one person's sleep being a bit ruined.

I dunno this situation but i do know that in my experience i was always much more willing to accommodate a neighbor if they just had the decency to come talk to me rather than them simply calling the police. That's just an easy way to piss them off and there's no point in that is there.
Perhaps asking them to turn it down (if you hadn't done that) would be the thing to do next time? At least that way if they refuse you can mention that to the police that you had already asked them politely.

I had my windows open last night...

And heard lots of commotion last night, as well as police sirens. I think they were quite busy last night. I eventually just shut my window and slept like a baby

Lol. I am what's wrong? I pay taxes, abide by the law. I would like to see our Peace Officer's enforce laws that we as a populace have determined necessary to have.

Now maybe BPS doesn't give it's Officer's the proper tools? Or maybe they just neglect to enforce? Either way myself and others are not happy about the lack of enforcement.

Sorry to burst your bubble Brandon is a very small community.

If it makes you feel any better though I am hoping the d!psh!t texting their BFF about what a blast last night was, doesn't roll through a stop sign jeopardizing your family and property: as well as mine and every other person in this city.

That is a "problem" I will happily be a part of. I have nothing to fear from the BPS on the streets, unfortunately those who should are not afraid either.

In theory that works but sadly some fools amongst us would rather whack someone with a baseball bat, or shoot somebody in the face.

The Police get PAID to take care of the OP's situation.

But as I've learned over my time on ebrandon, most people believe that we should never ever question our police force (or any police force).

I would love to see our police force out there ticketing people regularly for traffice offences, but apparently that makes me a bad person.

car accident

just to let you around 4 there was a car accident so they were probably busy dealing with more life threatening situations at that time.

Well assuming the OP phoned about 12:35 AM I hardly see how that could have anything to do with sending a uniform or two over too a noice complaint / disturbance of the peace.

I Agree

I was out this afternoon and was almost hit by a young girl driving a truck, talking on her phone and waving at a friend walking on the sidewalk????? With spring here and the beautiful weather I agree that the BP should be out handing out more tickets. And as a parent I would be the first one to shut such a party down out of respect for others. Something Brandon has little of these days..

HAHA I WAS THERE!!!!! TOO FUNNY

BPS did show up actually, a mature person would have approached the situation and asked to keep it down...not that we were even very loud. next time we'll be twice as loud just for you. and when u mow your lawn i'll be calling police because its too loud for my ears(sarcasm).

A "mature" person likely wouldn't have put their neighbor in that position. I think the noise bylaw kicks in at 11:00 PM until 6:00 AM. Maybe your neighbor will get lucky next time and the police will actually issue a fine to the offender.

Sadly people don't care anymore unless it affects their wallet.

MY house

hey why did no one come to think about coming and asking me to keep it down. i work 2 jobs and almost never get a time to relax. it was nice having the fire and friends over and yes we would have quieted down if we knew we were being a bother. the police did show up around mid night and it was no big deal. the saddest part is that you whine that no one else is doing your "dirty work" please come meet me in person next time. I am sure our police department has enough on their hands with the growing population without having to rush to cater to your every whim.

Why should a person have to ask you to keep it down?

Granted IDK your day to day relationship with your neighbor, but why would it be their responsibility to ask?

Noise

When you are making a lot of noise you already have had too much to drink and likely lose all your respect for others. Hope somebody keeps you awake all night.
