To the lady that left her cart in the middle of the Canadian Tire Parking Lot

Thankyou so much for just leaving your cart in the middle of the parking lot and just watching it hit my vehicle. My vehicle is only a few months old and now it has 3 lovely dents in the front. Not that it matters how old it is. Why can't people have the decency to put their carts away up by the doors where all the other carts are? Especially to just stand there and watch it happen! Thankyou so much!!!!!

Sorry...

You had that experience!!

I was actually going to comment earlier about a lovely lady who offered to take my cart up to the front on her way in to the store when she didn't have to....too bad more folks were not more like her.

how does...

a shopping cart cause 3 dents to your car? Unless the person rammed into your car, or the cart had bricks in it....Not questioning your honesty or anything just doesn't sound right. Also no it was not me as I did not use a shopping cart at canadian tire for the brief time I was there(before anyone gets any ideas why I am asking lol). I also bring my shopping carts back to the store. Sorry to hear about your car.

Every man way is right in his own eyes

I have heard many rationalize that they leave their carts so people will have a job. Those same jobs are a business expense so shop owners cost go up and the result is higher prices.

As to damage to a vehicle. The scratch or dent may be small but it is still needless damage.

I make a habit of taking carts back to their rightful stations as I head into the store. Sometimes i end up pushing a half a dozen carts. In my mind, leaving carts in the parking lot is like leaving trash on the table in the food court. Or leaving garbage to blow across my lawn. It is a relfection of a person's character. I can't change others but I can clean up my own little corner. Thank you to others who I notice and appreciate doing the same thing.

Ugh

It's very frustrating when people do that, but how do you know that she watched it happen? If you saw her stand there watching it why didn't you confront her? Maybe she left it and it rolled afterwards, or someone else bumped it?

I've had cart scuff marks on my car too and it's very annoying. I've seen runaway shopping carts a few times and even stopped one just before it hit someone's car but I've never actually seen the person who left it.

Nothing worse than coming up to a parking spot only to find a cart left there, especially when it's so close to the cart return.

yep

I always wondered why people would park their vehicle in the farthest corner of the lot when they could be closer to the door of the store. Now I am one of the ones who parks far away to. It does help avoid alot of parking lot rash.

Stalls

Why doesn't Canadian Tire have stalls so that you can leave your cart in the parking lot like Sobeys or Walmart? Not like they can't afford two or three for there parking lot.

I think although Can. Tire can afford the cost of cart stalls, they can't afford to loose the space. Their parking lot is small enough already.

duh

The Cdn Tire parking lot is not very big, so (agreed) to add a stall would take up space that we would prefer to park in. Plus, it's the same distance to bring your cart back into the store, as, say, going from the Superstore entrance to their outdoor cart stalls. Some people just think it's a shorter distance to the stalls no matter how few-and-far-between they are....

I

work for a retailer that has a posted sign in the back for employees that if a shopping cart hits a customers car that they store has to pay for the repair and may be charged a fine, BUT I am not sure if that means an employee has to be the cause or any incident as it does not state.

They need stalls.

A single stall that might take up one or two parking spaces in the middle of the lot would save a big headache for people who are having their vehicles damaged. If there is a stall there people are more inclined to use it... no stall means that option isn't even there.

you may hate hearing some people complaining but...some people take pride in their belongings, we work hard to have what we have and to have some dammage happen to it because of some lazy a$$ will not return their carts to their rightful place, is wrong... and newsflash!!! you're not the only one to have a kid... the 7 month old doesn't say "mommy leave that cart right there!" and to say that people need to be happier and be happy you have a car and place to live? seriously? try using compassion to people that clearly are proud and would not cause your property dammage... then we'd be happier "

Agree....It is just a sign of pure laziness to not return the cart. I guess I should just shut up and be glad that it took me driving for over 20 years to be able to afford a new truck that cost a small mint. I guess who cares if someone rams a cart or car door into it.....Just smile and be happy that I pay almost $700 a month for someone too lazy to return a cart or park a foot away from me and put dings in my belongings.

klvm....I would love to see you shell out over 40 grand on a vehicle and watch someone bang their door into you or watch someone push a cart and have it roll into your vehicle and dent it. I really don't think you will just smile and be glad that you have a vehicle to drive.

surely you must have had the common sense to go and speak to her in person. at the very least, writing down her license plate number would be what autopac would need you to do.

if you didn't do either of those things, then it couldn't be that big of a deal to you, or you would have made the effort.

it is unfortunate that this happened to you, but you were in the position to do the right thing to resolve it. whether you chose to was your own decision.

dish out 40 grand but 20 grand and someone did that But like was said it is just a car. Pride is a poor excuse to call someone lazy. I don't always put the cart back even at superstore.I won't let it roll either. If there is someone to take my paid for cart I just loose the dollar ,big deal. at wallyworld if it's windy you can't leave the cart there for the next person as the wind will send it everywhere. I realy like those who leave the cart at the far end as that is usually where I park, and it is a real pain in the a$$ to leave my 2 month old 2 year old 3 year old in the car while i| go get a cart, or drag them with me to go get a cart. I always look for the cart that was left for ME

Thread

Had to take a couple of posts out of this thread. If your only contribution to a thread is to tell someone that they shouldn't have posted, I'd ask that you please in stead check out a thread that is of interest. The topic is within the rules as the type of thing that one is able to get off of their chest if they choose. thanks.

My 3 cents...

Some of us care for our property, and take pride since we work hard to get ahead. Also, even if you don't care about your vehicle, does that mean we all have to own beaters? Maybe Gm should offer pre-distressing as a factory option?
I think it all comes down to lazines and the me first attitude. Be as ignorant as you like and let others force you to act your age.
As for C.T., a dollar a cart with 1 stall on the sidewalk in front of the store would fix the cart problem, as you can see at S.S., but your still left with careless people dinging doors because all stalls are painted too small because the companies want more stalls per lot and don't pay for the dings their bad painting causes.

scratch n dents

Perspective I think is important when it comes to the big picture of life(for me). I do value my personal property and was livid to see a scratch/ding in a new vehicle: however, upon having a sick child (cancer now cancer free) those things are trivial.
Not to say those things aren't important to you, but what's done is done (I say), and move on. some touch up paint and it looks like our vehicle is a connect the dots, jk.

My 4 year old

knows that it is lazy people that are the reason for so many carts in the lots. Canadian Tire, like it's been said, doesn't have a very big lot. So why should they have to put in cart spots? So you don't have to walk to 15 - 20 extra feet to take it back to the door? Plus, like another person stated, they would then have to hire people to go out and collect all the carts. The stalls aren't the problem it's sheer laziness. Look at Wal-Mart, they have tons of those stalls and people leave their carts ACROSS THE FREAKIN DRIVING LANE! How lazy of a person are you to leave your cart literally 5 feet away from the stall. I love it when my son says there are a lot of people to lazy to take their cart back. There are only about 5% of people who leave their carts that actually have a reason and you very rarely see them.
