please give me your comments, looking to get my first tattoo in january and wanting to know where to get it done.

the best advice I can offer is research the artists in Brandon.. Warlocks, Adams, Madd Artist, Locus.. whatever you choose.. make sure the piece is fit for you.. look at their work and history and as stupid as it sounds... ask questions.. if you don't get an appropriate answer, walk away. Ask about sterilization, ask about guarantees and touch ups, are they free..take time to look through the albums they have of previous works.. most of all, are they willing to listen to your image portrayed. talk, talk, talk about your idea and what they can do for you.. remember, this image is for life.. make sure it fits your idea..  
 
P.s. It is a tattoo.. breaking the skin is always painful to a point, in the end, it is worth it. Brandon offers many safe and practical shops, all the mentioned above, I have personally dealt with.. and recommend.

A stop clock should be enforced.. Artists will stop for smoke breaks, lunch breaks, telephone breaks, to change paint, or needle, to answer question not related to my tattoo--- then this time should be paid by their employer. I'm paying for the hours that the time that is being done on me. Ex. In Ontario, the majority of the artists operate in this fashion.. stop watch. You are paying over $100.00/hr for work.. get your money's worth!

I've gotten two of my tats done there, and my boyfriend and sister both had one done there as well, all by Tyler, who is really great. I had a bad experience at Warlocks and I havn't tried any of the other places but I would highly recommend Adam's.

i just had one done there by Tyler... VERY VERY impressed with the work and detail he did!

Tyler may be good, I have sent in a pic of a wolf statue for a shoulder piece.. It has been a year and although I have stated that I wanted the piece to be a head-on piece of a winged wolf that I brought to him in a photo, and in person, it has yet to be done. A year.. long time to wait for someone's money. He lost his money in this one.. but don't know him.. apparently, he has been good. Just want a winged wolf as my statue is..

With both my boyfriend and myself, we left him a picture, but we also booked an appointment at that time and put our deposit down, and by the time our appointment came, he had the drawing done.

If I come in with a statue, a time frame, an idea... and it takes a year to get a photo idea done, something is wrong.. hubby has paid big dollars to get an arm piece done, and I come in with statue and plan done, face on pic, and I come back 3 months later and a side shot is done, I want more for my money. He is not getting my business unless I get what I pay for..I made it clear I want a winged wolf face-on.. not getting it.. moving on.

I looked around and found a place I felt comfortable with..I was looking for cleanliness, crisp art samples of work and a personable person to receive my ideas.

I was very impressed with Jax at Lucky Lotus! She did a portrait of my son on my back, all I did was bring in a picture of him and she was able to make a tattoo from it. She spends a lot of time with detail and is very good with letting you take breaks when needed.

is this "Jax" actually Jackie that used to work at Artistic?? I'm asking because a Jackie from there did mine, and a few of my friends, and we just loved her, but then they shut down and I didn't know if she was still in town. She was extremely talented and very personable and comfortable to be around.

I had a full sleeve done there by Tyler and his work is amazing!! As Kaycee mentioned above they are very quick to have your picture ready if you make an appointment and leave a deposit

I had mine done at warlocks by Ward, and that is where I will go back for my next one.

what are the prices that I should expect to pay? and what is totally insane...  
My husband has several tattoos but got them all done by an amazing guy in quecbec and paid by the tattoo...  
how does it work here???

My husband has a body full of tattoos and always paid by the tattoo ranging from 60 to $300 for the whole arm design. However they were done in quebec, so we have nothing to go on out here.

about 1400 bucks. I think the average aroiund town is about $100/ hr

You bet thats here. Jax is awesome. Fun to be around and an amazing artist. Reasonably priced too.

WolfieGirl had some great points! Shop around and find a place that really works for you.  
I have a piece done at Warlocks as well as a piece from Jax at Lucky Lotus. Both pieces are very well done, but I do prefer Lucky Lotus. A very good friend of mine also has a piece by Jax and is extremely happy with it!!

Jax charges about 90 bucks an hour. I believe Warlock and Adams is 100-120 an hour. Not sure about Madd Artist.
