,,,,....

Came home from Brandon to Neepawa tonight, and four miles west of Neepawa there's a mile of solid black ice. The trees have stopped the snow and formed a skating rink.

Be careful on #16.

We left.....

.....the Husky at Hedingly at 19:00 and arrived at 1st and #10 by 21:00 some slow travel due to blowing snow. Not pleasant driving but not the worst. Good luck

Just rolled her truck at virden. Supposedly RCMP is closing the highway. They should if everyone is ending up in the ditch. Do it before someone is killed.

#10 south

Just came home from Brandon south on #10 hwy. Poor visibility, roads were snow covered with sonme slippery sections. From the #2 turn off to Wawanesa the hwy got much worse. Drifts almost all the way across the road. The curves before the big valley were very bad. Turned off just before the valley. Wish we had stayed home tonight .
Drove between 60 and 70 kms all the way.

Left Winnipeg at almost 11pm and rolled into Brandon at 1:30am. Roads weren't too bad. Worst was the blowing snow and trying to pass the slower drivers. Wasn't that bad as I was able to average around 80-90km with the odd really bad blowing snow section here and there reducing speed to about 60 for a minute or so.

Has anyone travelled from Brandon to the US border, on #10? We have to go that way later today.

Roads to Shilo

Just a quick note to all those going in to work today in Shilo. There is some drifting on the roads, especially around Cottonwoods. Please add a little time to your drive as it can be treacherous if you are not careful.

#1 East is partly snow covered but *knock on wood* not slippery so far. Blowing snow making for poor visibility quite often. Traveling around 90km/h. Not quite to portage yet.

#1 closed

My husband just phoned me about half an hour ago. He just avoided the tail end of a 20 car pile up. He thought everyone was ok but doesn't think it will be cleared up any time soon. I am so thankful he and everyone else are ok.

roads north of neepawa

I know that highway 5 is.closed as of right now. I'm sending this from my smart phone as I'm just south of mccreary where there's no internet. My service comes and goes.

Did anyone travel on highway 5 last night. The wind really picked up and was just curious on how the highway was then. Id like to make it back to bdn today, but its not looking good so far.

Number 5 is still listed as closed, and 16 between Neepawa and Franklin as well. The wind seems to be dying down a bit now, so maybe later it will improve.

..

To the poster above asking about travel to the US via #10, my advise is stay home. All highways in northern North Dakota were listed as travel not advised when we left Fargo this morning. We are in Grand Forks now and it's likely worse now. It took almost 3 hours from Fargo to Grand Forks due to literally zero visibility. The highway from Grand Forks to Winnipeg is closed as of early this morning. We are going no further today and staying here tonight. My advise is if you are still in Brandon, stay there!
