Fred Phelps dead

I am not one to condemn people but in this mans case I do make an exception to that rule.

I just have to wonder what other nutcase is going to take up his "cause".

Phelps

For those of you who don't know, Fred Phelps was the founder of the Westboro Baptist Church.

As for his "cause" he was excommunicated from the church he founded last year:

"Nate Phelps, an estranged son of Fred Phelps, told The Associated Press in a phone interview Sunday night that members of Westboro voted Phelps out of the church last summer, apparently "after some kind of falling out."

from http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/fred-phelps-westboro-baptist-church-founder-on-death-bed-1.2575257

I don't know if that's good (they are seeing he's a nutjob) or bad (they're even more of a nutjob).

LOL

There is no way grass will ever grow over his body with the amount of urine that will be in soil...I would assume there won't be a funeral because there has be be thousands of folks just waiting for the chance to screw with him and his church...

protesting the funeral

Anyone who protests his funeral is absolutely as intolerant as him and his Church. I really hope his funeral is peaceful and that nobody sinks to their level by protesting. They need to be shown that those they hate are much more loving and tolerant than they are.

.

We can all thank the media for giving power to the hatred of this man and a few dozen followers for so many years. Protesting his funeral would only add to what he tried to accomplish in life.

protest

Slayer is apparently going to protest at his funeral. In my opinion if him and his family didn't want anyone to protest his funeral they shouldn't have done it themselves to countless other people.

Ron and Fez show

Named the Westboro Baptist Church as the official church of their show. Phelps had no idea how they were mocking the organization. It was great radio as they showed up the complete intolerance and nuttiness of their Church.
Phelps will not be missed by decent people everywhere.

Still sad.

And a loss. Who can rejoice at the loss of a human life. No one knows the circumstances surrounding his upbringing or what what caused his way of thinking.

He was a human being with the same forgiveness and grace available to any person on earth. I agree with Opinionated and others above. Protesting would be stooping to his former level.

seemed to rejoice in the loss of a human life. And what happened in his upbringing is no excuse. He wanted to picket Tim McLeans funeral and for what reason?

One can only hope that his very last conscious thought was the stark realization that there is no god and that his life's work of hate was a complete waste.

heh

For people excusing his crud by speaking about "how he was brought up"- fair enough. That's not his fault, but it's not the fault of the people he hated on either. Maybe I'll be wiser someday but not tolerating extremists is something I have no issue with, no matter what level it puts me at. Sometimes PC bull is PC bull, and it allows a lot of unpalatable things, at best, to terrorise society.
