Can you drive in Manitoba with an International driver's license?

Hi there,

I would just really like to know if this is allowed?

If not, I have a beginners' driver license and my friend has an South African drivers license. I really just have to make one trip from Dauphin to Brandon. As I cannot yet drive with this license on my own, would I be allowed to drive with him since he has a license? Or can he drive instead?

Thanks.

-.-

You can indeed drive in Manitoba with an International Drivers License.

I did so for over a year before taking my drivers exam here! Once you take your exam here though it is no longer valid - pass or fail

Yup

My wife is from Australia and legally you can drive under your current licence for 3 months, after that you better get a MB licence.

not sure ...

if you have the learners only whether someone from another country can be your experienced driver with you as they have to be driving for a few years.

phone and check it out. or just let him do the driving.

DRIVING BY NEW RESIDENTS OF MANITOBA

Temporary validity of out-of-province driving permit

7 Despite any other provision of this Part, a person who becomes a resident of Manitoba and holds a valid out-of-province driving permit that authorizes him or her to drive any class of motor vehicle may drive a motor vehicle of that class for the first three months after he or she becomes a resident, without obtaining a driver's licence under this Act.

An International Driving Permit is carried along with a valid license, is not valid by itself, and is valid for 3 months.
