Good Realtor

I am looking to buy a new house and would like recommendations on a good realtor. I’ve only ever dealt with one realtor 11 years ago. Lina Nikolova but I don’t know much about her. Who did/didn’t you like and why? Thank you!

We used Tyson Tame and he was the best! Couldn’t have worked harder for us! Can’t recommend him more. He’s great at his job.

question

With all these recommendations, what do you look for in a realtor? And what makes a good realtor to you?!

Asking for recommendations is difficult

I posted that I use and trust Tyson Tame. I know he works hard showing homes and connecting with buyers. He is honest with people. We had him show us a house and really appreciated his informed perspective. That's why we turned to him to sell our place. Maybe try having an agent show you a house similar to what you're selling to see how its presented.

Unfortunately he wasn't my first realtor. The first agent from another company did nothing for us, I don't think our house was ever even shown by our agent. I would tell you who that person was but the eBrandon rules let us lavish praise but not point out faults. I wish good and bad service could be recognized and discussed.

So just take the advice you read here with a grain of salt. And give Tyson a call.

Good guy and you also get a rebate when you buy through him. Easy decision for us.

We’re using her right now and she’s gone above and beyond to help us. She’s very good at catching things about the house or the yard that we might not necessarily notice. Super personable! Highly recommend her!

You wont regret Rana!

Rana Wilkinson with Royal Lepage! We have used her twice now, both for buying and selling. She’s always gone above and beyond in every way. She’s so down to earth and work so hard for her client. If you decide to go with her, you wont reget it!!

My vote

Is for Rana Wilkinson as well! She might seem a bit aggressive at first but you will understand her commitment is to you, selling and/or buying a house/cabin!

Rana

will get my next buy and sell for sure!!! I just bought through her and she worked hard to get me everything I asked for. This was on a very strict budget and she found me things from $40,000.00 below right up to my cap. She gave me the ins and outs of everything and was very honest and blunt. We had some good laughs and she made the experience great.
Try her out, I doubt you'll be disappointed....I know I wont be when I use her again in a year or 2!

private market

Dont over look the private market, regarless of what anyone says. You get the entire history of the home from the owner, you can spend as much time as you need in the house and you still need every document that a realtor uses.

Just my 2 cents...

I've bought a few houses and although all the agents I used were top notch professionals and genuinely great people...I don't think I'd ever use an agent again to BUY a house...Selling a house you really need an agent but buying you can do yourself. Having said that, there is absolutely no downside to using an agent to purchase your house..it costs you nothing and they'll be able to negotiate or at least give you a realistic opinion about what kind of offer would be fair...

What I'd do differently if I had it to do again with our last house was I'd use that "Rebate commission" guy...not sure who he is but we would have received a cheque for almost $1000 after purchasing the house as a rebate on his commission. I say that because I don't think we really got any bang for our buck as far what we ended up paying.

Another argument for not using an agent at all is you might be able to negotiate a slightly lower price because the person selling the house will most likely be paying a lot less commission if the listing agent sells the house. If an agent lists a house but another agent sells they usually charge about 5-6% of the sale price...so $18,000 on a $300,000 house because both agents need a commission so one gets 3% and the other gets 3%...but typically an agent will only charge 4% if they both list and sell the house so you save the seller $6000 right off the top. So if they are entertaining your lower offer that extra $6000 in commissions your saving them makes a difference when they're weighing the pros and cons of your lower offer.
