Pressure Canner gauge testing help!

Hey ebrandon - my pressure canner gauge needs testing. In the US, I know you can take them to your local ag extension office, but obviously we don't have those. I've heard rumours that a radiator place has the tools to test it, but I feel kinda weird calling them up and asking.

What do other canners do? Mine got full of moisture so I want to check it before using it again.

Thanks!

Damage to gauge

Is your gauge currently ready zero? If not, there's a good chance the moisture damaged it. If it is ready zero, might just have moisture on the face plate. It might be just as easy to buy a new gauge and then you know for sure. Brandon does have an Agreement Extension Office. 1129 Queens Ave. You might call there and see if it's what you're looking for. Check the internet for their phone number. I'm not sure if we can post them here.

Try Pumps and Pressure. Great guys to deal with whenever I’ve had to.

Yes, it's reading zero. But apparently even new gauges you should check them (and have them rechecked annually) as they can be as much as 2lbs off coming from factory (!!). I'm new to pressure canning and super-paranoid, so I would rather have the assurance of having it checked.

I didn't realize we have an Ag Extension office. I left a message. I'm sure they do what I need them to do, but maybe they can point me in the right direction.
