I will be hiking in RMNP this weekend and am concerned about bears...Is it legal to bring bear spray into RMNP and if so, where do you buy bear spray? thanks

I would try Joe brooks.

In regards to legality of it...

You should have no issues carrying it out during a hike. Now if that hike happens to be thru downtown brandon you might have some explaining to do as to why you have it.

bear spray

I tried home hardware, canadian tire, jo brook firearms but no one has any...I can order it from amazon or walmart on line, but I need it to go hiking tomorrow at RMNP. talk about waiting till the last minute. I'll just have to follow other advice about avoiding bears, and hope for the best....

What about using an air horn? I think Canadian Tire has them.

you could use

bear bells. They are large jingle bells on a strap that you attach to your wrist or backpack. Just makes enough noise so as not to startle a bear.

Home Hardware Onanole

Maybe try calling HH in Onanole. They might have some. You could also try calling the park center, they might be able to direct you to the right place.

If I came upon a bear

I'd rather have bear spray or an air horn than jingle bells....LOL Sorry, couldn't resist!

Reminds me of a joke, something about identifying droppings from different animals. Bear scat has little bells in it.
