Sucess with Juicing or Water Fasting?

Ok this isn't a typical discussion on here, but would like to hear from anyone who has tried and succeeded or just experiences with Juicing or water fasting and any tips you might have...telling me to eat whole foods isn't a tip lol I know of that option, the thread is related to experiences with Juicing and water fasting lol Also if you felt better or lost fat, and what juicer did you use if you juiced?

Juicing

Watch what fruits you use as they contain and are high in natural sugars which can cause problems when it comes to weight loss.
Check out this Facebook group called
Destination Health w/ Let's Truck,
there is a lot of good reading and lots of good recipes shared amongst the group
Good Luck

Water fast

I did that for two weeks once, minus a day.
Went excellent. Cured some bowel problems. I have also been known to do it for personal (spiritual) reasons according to scripture.

After about 48 hours of no food, ketosis sets in whereas the body is looking for carbs to turn into energy and if none can be found, it will break down the fat and utilize it turning it into ketones.

The colon has nothing to expel, and if it does by the fourth of fifth day, it's probably very dark, (black even) what little waste is left inside.

About the third night, I woke up with awful leg cramps. Some people get headaches. But I had a hot bath with epsom salts ( I was trying to not take pain killers at all) I went back to bed and the pains never returned.

About the next day, I got all my strength and was able to continue in a labouring job. Took water everywhere I went. The desire for any food left me after a few days. I never felt hungry for the next week, but what an yucky taste in the mouth. Needed to chew gum or something after day 5. When the stomach shrinks and bowels empty, those muscles will not need as much to fill you up after you come off the fast. The neat thing is that you realize somehow you don't NEED the food you were eating, and your desire after is remain clean and eat better. Something I never practiced. I ate everything and anything and late at night is worse. I drew near to 300lbs! I tell people to listen to their bodies on what to eat, when to sleep, etc... and you cannot go wrong and will feel well.

When returning to food, one must start slow with soup and soft foods for a few days. I lost a bunch of weight, and felt great after.

I got myself a Juiceman juicer at yard sale for ten bucks. That thing will juice parsely like it showed on TV, but now the machine is quite dated, though still works great. You can use the fruit pulp for making moist muffins later.

The juicing I normally do, (because of the low cost) is carrots, celery, apples. Sometimes I take a small piece of ginger or beets and toss them in. When someone has a bit harvest of apples or some veggies, I will grab them and use for juicing.

I would always consult a doctor. Diabetic folks I would never encourage to go long time on fast, but there are ways depending on each person's condition of health.

Enjoy the journey. Hope it goes well. There is so much more online these days, but find something that fits.

Thank you for the input lol I've watched fat sick and nearly dead documetary and well, breville looks awesome but well costly. You're lucky you found a juicer at a yard sale lol I actually would like to try water fasting again (I only went couple days) for spiritual reasons and to try heal some things and lose fat and Im under 300lbs and its embarassing....I dont expect to be 130lbs like I was most of my adult life (til about 12 yrs ago), but even 160 is better lol I dont have diabetes or heart issues or high blood pressure or bad chlorestrol, vit levels are ok too. I saw a vid on youtube where a girl said she started to lose hair after she water fasted....so I dont want that, lol I like your cheap choices to juice cost wise

It's mostly, well...99.9% placebo

If you're already eating healthy then starving yourself with juices has no medically proven benefit (by medically proven I mean credentialed researchers/scientists. I like to add the words Mayo Clinic or some other credentialed organization to my google search when asking about fads). If you eat garbage like fast food, chips, candies, cakes, etc you'll notice a benefit from juicing but it's not from the juice its because you're not eating the garbage.

What works equally well is listening to Metallica while eating salad and fresh fruits...or listening to dogs barking on a continuous loop while working out for 60 minutes a day. The placebo effect is very strong, and in most cases harmless. I'd put juicing in that category as harmless placebo.

You'll drop $100-$150 on a juicer...spend $100 on fruits and vegetables...drink that $100 in a couple days and then you'll look at the huge pile of fibre and actual beneficial matter that you've thrown in the garbage after cleaning out your juicer (for the 20th time in 2 days because you have to clean them constantly) and you'll quit juicing.

You'll soon find that editing accounts for a large part of the guy in the documentaries success. You'll also find that juicing isn't all he does, he eats healthy and exercises and then he juices so he can sell you books about juicing and juicers he's endorsed in his videos.

I suggest buying $100 worth of super naturopathic guaranteed virgin super food certified over priced organic juice made from a fruit you've never heard of (but mostly apple juice or grape juice with a bit of the unknown super fruit added so they can call it "Xumi Berry Juice") and try you're experiment with that first. It'll cost you the same but you won't have a $200 juicer sitting on your counter collecting dust for the next 5 years.

juicing

We watched the show Fat Sick and Nearly Dead. It got us on the juicing kick. We tried the 7 day reboot but couldn’t go past 3 days ha ha. It was a big change but we stuck to it for quite some time. I had a hard time with green juices and went down to just having a morning juice then food the rest of the day. My husband was good and drank juice all day then ate supper. He lost 50lbs or so, I was down about 30. Then hubby ended up in the hospital with kidney stones. Who knew too much kale is not a good thing?! So that was the end of juicing. All the weight is back.

Every once in awhile I pull it out to have a carrot and orange juice as it’s so yummy.

I bought a Breville juicer. I didn't last very long but I will say that the juice you get is better. I didn't realize how much was added to store bought juices, or maybe how much was taken out?

I got tired of the cleaning so I just made a 1 litre jug of juice and put it in the fridge..within 3 days it was starting to mold. You can pour a glass of sunrype orange juice and put it in the fridge and that thing will last weeks.

juice

You can freeze your juice so it doesn’t mold.

Yes it’s amazing the difference real juice makes. I don’t even buy store juice anymore other than OJ on occasion. Imagine how good it would taste with fresh fruits and veggies without all the chemicals on them.

Smoothies

Have you put in any thought in regards to having fruit and veg smoothies rather than juicing? You get the benefit of the whole fruit and veg rather than just the juice and you will use considerably less amount of fruits and vegetables that way.

Wheat City Juice Co

I was interested in doing a juice fast, but didn’t want to invest in a juicer without knowing if it was something I would stick to. So I’ve been buying juices from Wheat City Juice co. (They have a FB page and a website). I love them. The juices are $7-$9 each for a mason jar size and have a variety of flavours. Obviously it’s more expensive this way then juicing your own but still cheaper then investing in an expensive juicer right off the bat.

Fasting

Try Intermittent Fasting.
That, paired with a light workout program and being in caloric deficit will help you lean out and still be healthy.
Basically do not eat anything from 8pm until 12pm the following day. You can drink water, tea, or coffee during the fasting period. You take in any and all calories between 12pm and 8pm, usually a big lunch, a snack, and a big supper.

Interesting post I liked the part of Metallica but wouldnt they be better for working out than the dogs barking lol Of course Joe Cross was endorsing Breville and he's a business man, but the juicing did help him and others. You suggested buying $100 worth of super naturpathic virgin superfood?????
