Shopping in Grand Forks - Black Friday

I have just confirmed my reservation for the Black Friday weekend in Grand Forks. We usually shop in Minot but they are booked for that weekend so we are going to Grand Forks for the first time. I am looking for some advise from those who have been there.

I have a list of stores that others have said I NEED to shop at, but am always looking for other options.

I am also very interested in any sites that offer good (current!) coupons for any of these stores.

Who has gone for Black Friday? Where did you find the best deals and what times did you go? Was in necessary to be the first there or were you able to get great shopping all day?

We are staying at the Days Inn and I believe that is very near the "hub" of shopping with the Super Wal-Mart, Super Target and the mall all right there. Is this correct?

Also looking for some recommendations for restaurants.

Thanks!

Black Friday

I have never been to Grand Forks for Black Friday, but I have been to Duluth in Minnesota the last 4 years. In my experience, pick the one store with the amazing deals that you personally feel like you can't miss and go to that one first. I went to Walmart at midnight last year to get my $2 waffle maker, took a nap, and then lined up for the opening of Menards at 6. The other stores usually have "door busters" that the prices are available till 11, and are sometimes pushed back till 1. Of course, these are subject to number of items there. I always hit up JC Penny and Macy's for there door busters.

As you said you have been to a Black Friday sale before, I will not warn you about the crowds and lineups. I always find my self getting annoyed after the first 15 minutes. Haha.

As for Grand Forks, any time I go I always hit up Gordmans, Kohls, Walmart, and JC Penny.

Have fun! I am jealous that I wont be heading down this year for it!

Grand Forks

Was just there this past long weekend. Stores I found with the best deals and great selection was the supercentre Target, and Gordmins (side by side) which had really nice name brand clothes and purses on CHEAP and great home decor. Also when your hungry go to Texas road house, lots of fun, kids welcome.

websites

There are several websites devoted to Black Friday Sales. My personal favorite is: http://www.blackfriday.info/

It is a great website. The sales flyers are usually posted a few weeks in advance and if you log in you can create a shopping list.
Grand Forks is very busy as it is so close to Winnipeg. There will be lots of people and huge line ups. I suggest making a list and prioritizing what you really want.
Also, each year the stores open earlier and earlier. Some sales start as early as 10 pm thursday night or midnight. The rest of the stores open anywhere from 3 am to 6am. It no longer a Friday shopping day, it is all night Thursday!
Have fun! We make the trip every year and have gone to Grand Forks, Fargo, Bismarck. I think Fargo is my favorite, followed by Grand Forks.
