Tornado WATCH - Brandon, area July 12

Tornado Watch: City of Brandon
Issued at 18:46 Sunday 12 July 2015

Importance: High
A low pressure system located over southeast Saskatchewan combined with a warm and humid airmass will create favourable conditions for the development of funnel clouds and possibly brief tornadoes early this evening. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. In the event of a tornado, or if a tornado warning is issued for your area, it is recommended you take the following actions: Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet. Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can. As a last resort, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris. Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please monitor local media or Weatheradio. To report severe weather, send an email to storm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #MBStorm.

Watch

Just a good shot of rain please! Sure is an almost constant rumble from the East/Southeast.

Just the obligatory reminder of the difference between a watch and a warning. A watch of course means that nothing is necessarily imminent but that conditions are what could lead to development of storms that may have tornadoes. No panic, but as good a time as any to give thought to what you would do if one took place and to listen for any updated info that might be put out by Environment Canada including any warnings if necessary.

Radar link is below where you can see what's developed and where. I'm no weather pro, but I'll be watching the sky to the Southwest which has taken on a pretty ominous look:

Watch

Figured we might be out of the woods after the rain passed and considering how late it is, but the tornado watch was updated a few mins ago as still in place:

I see there is still a little something popping up to the Southwest

Ninette/Carberry

From the Cklq link below it sounds like there was a tornado touchdown in Ninette last night that thankfully sounds to have not caused significant damage. As mentioned above Carberry may have seen the worst of it:

I'd take a blizzard over a tornado!
