five crashes yesterday between 4:34 pm and 5:20

Okay, winter in Manitoba. The graders of gone down the main streets, they will be a little slick. Drive with care and caution. Can't believe there would be that many in under an hour. Think of how many police were tied up investigating accidents, that should not happen.

was all day

I saw many accidents all day. The roads are definitely slippery. Saw many in snow banks. The biggest issue is all the ruts that have now formed.
My more pressing concern was watching the school bus that charged through a yellow light then proceeded to fish tale around the corner on 26th street as they turned off park ave at around 430 pm yesterday.
Another is how fast the city busses are traveling down park. Don't be deceived. The road along park between 26th and 34th is quite bad in spots. I really wish the city buses would slow down a bit.
Its never that important to rush. Leave extra early if you must. Someone is going to get hurt..

Re: School Bus running light, fishtailing, etc.

You should call the Brandon School Division and report this behaviour. They need to ensure that their drivers are driving safely to keep the kids safe. No bus drivers (school or city) should be driving recklessly, esp. in snowy winter conditions like we''re having.

did any one see that

article about the police handing speeding tickets to the city buses in Wpg i think it was. Lots of them too 70 or 80 tickets. these apparently were photo radar. I guess might be too invasive to actually pull a city bus over to hand out a speeding ticket in person.
really dangerous situation, maybe not so much for the big bus if it collides at speed but the poor car driver it runs into.

Time of Day

Unfortunate to have so many accidents at any time but that time of day would be rush hour and more vehicles would be on the road. Therefore, a greater chance of having an accident.
As far as tying up police, I'm sure they would leave the accident scene if a more urgent call were reported.

I agree V-BallRocks. Also if you are in a little fender bender move your cars off the road and exchange particulars. You don't need to get out and stand in the middle of road looking at your car you are only going cause another crash. Also if there are no injuries and the vehicles aren't disabled (undriveable) you don't even need to phone the police. You can call the BPS front desk and they will tell if you don't believe me. Exchange your info and go make your claim (if there are witnesses get their info too - it will help your claim) no need to tie up officers cause you slid into the car in front of you.

These kind of situations are when cadets roll out in winnipeg. Traffic incidents, traffic/crowd control...but I agreen, if they're driveable and no injuries, exchange info and keep moving.
