social prizes

Is there anywhere in Brandon that typically donates social prizes?

Best bet.

Do up a letter and ask.

Everyone will tell you that business doesn't do it but frankly they do. It may be something small but many still do. As for your big prizes you may have to fundraise for those and ask the bridal party to help THEN approach a business for a discounted rate.
Good luck!

Don't

Don't just go around randomly asking for prizes, that's just ignorant. Maybe go see places that you deal with or work with often that know you personally. How would you like it if some stranger you had never seen came and asked you for money?? I know you are asking for a prize, but to a business that is money. It's poor advertising for them too if you think they would want to do it because it might get them some business, it won't.

Social prizes

Does anyone know of businesses around the Brandon or Virden area that would be willing to donate to a wedding social raffle?
Only productive answers please, I know most people think asking is tacky.

This question comes up frequently. Searching the discussions will probably help you best. Also best is to hit businesses you frequent regularly. Many I see are now purchasing items themselves to raffle off.

I may regret this!

I am just starting my hobby of doing laser engraving of Wine Glasses as well as Pub Glasses here in Brandon. I also will be doing wedding favours - even paper items.
I am thinking that with a reasonable purchase, I would (on a time limited basis) donate some items as a BONUS, like a Personalized Mason Jug, Wine or Beer glass. Obviously, I have not given this a lot of thought, but it certainly would help out the social & promote my fledgling hobby. This offer may be withdrawn at any time. Currently, prices are very low as an introductory price. $8 and down depending on quantity. Prices will be increasing in a month or two.

I also do pet tags and people dog tags amongst other items.

I was just wondering how you made out with social prizes. I am having my wedding social soon and looking for social prizes now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Go buy your own or go ask businesses you frequently do business with.

buy your own

buy your own during sales and take advantage of loyalty programs such as optimum or pc points. buy an electronic at shoppers during a 20x the points promo then use the points you earned to buy another prize. Canadian tire just had a promo spend $200 get a $50 gift card

Send me a pm. We would be interested in donating a gift certificate (so much off their purchase). Not much but it could be added to other prizes.

donations

I agree with the post that says to go to places you are currently purchasing from. It is unfair to ask businesses to support your fundraising activities if you are not supporting them. We get hundreds of requests but are very choosy when deciding where our dollars for donation go. I think most places have to be nowadays. We support as many community events as we can but not socials as we feel that is up to the bridal party and the amount of the prizes can be recouped through ticket sales.
