Police Pressence this morning, what's going on?

Around 24th and Princess, woke up to see a cruiser in the alley. 2 police SUV's making rounds. One stopped and a officer got out with a gun. Another got a medium sized duffel bag. Anyone know what's going on?
Regardless, makes better watching with morning coffee than tv!

Police entering various back yards, taking notes. Police with paintball guns remain beside suv... Seems to be a white unmarked van lurking around.

Update 4

Guys excited unmarked suv packing serious heat. That police style, 22 I think, rifle. More cops out around a perimeter, guns and less than lethal guns out.

Final Update

Large truck relocated and redeployed men down the alley half a block. Everyone seems at high attention as that area is now in lockdown.
Quite an exciting morning! Let me know if anyone has information as to what is going on.

Police

The police released a statement asking the public to stay away from the area as they are dealing with an isolated incident.
Just saw this on fb Brandon police page. But that's all the details it really gives.

They are not 22's. They are called Carbines. Basically a shorter barrel and weigh less than other rifles. They can be accurately fired at greater distances than a typical police service handgun or shotgun. And those also weren't paintball guns but good reporting

Painball Guns

I'm not sure if this is used by the Brandon Police service but what you saw might have been a Pepperball gun. Looks a lot like a Paintball gun but used as a less lethal way to deal with a bad situation like this in the form of a pepper spray ball or pepper ball. I will try and attach a picture.

Beanbag rounds &; white cube van

That "white cube van" is the Tactical Response Unit (TRU) truck. It houses most of the equipment the TRU uses, including the robot that deployed a loud speaker in front of the house earlier in the day. It has lights and sirens, although the lights are hard to spot for most people. I was on scene from about 12:30pm, until it ended around 3:30-4pm, and they apparently fired beanbag rounds towards the house. I was filming and taking pictures from about 24th and Lorne Ave, when the Tactical Response Unit officers made their way towards the house. They fired at least 4 rounds of beanbags, which sounded like gunshots at first, towards the house. On the third rush towards the house, they made the final push and stormed in. The reason I know it was beanbag rounds is because I heard an officer telling a firefighter/paramedic that "he took a beanbag round". I have seen the TRU use those paintball guns before (White Swan Trailer Courts Standoff and Sobeys Parking Lot Standoff), but I never saw any of the officers carrying them today. Only the beanbag gun, and normal M4 carbine rifles.

Thanks for the info! I find it interesting how they operate in these situations. Doesn't sound like there were any injuries so that's good.
