| | Bad visibility | | |
Very poor visibility along #2 east of the Manitoba border to Pipestone. Supposed to be in Brandon today, had to turn around at Pipestone, no visibility. Edited by Mandy6, 2017-03-06 16:41:51 |

| | Wind | | |
Most recent reading at Brandon has winds at 64 gust to 80. Lot of power flickers at our place over the last half hour. Sharing below a note put out by Manitoba Hydro re attending to outages and how you can report one. Thanks to all at Hydro for their hard work during such brutal conditions. |

| | How's the snow situation? | | |
From my vantage point in my apartment, I'm not seeing very much snow building up. Nothing like the past storms anyway. The wind could also be piling it up elsewhere out of my sight though. |

| | .... | | |
Road closures have left many people stranded on the #1.
Yeah people could of/should of planned better, but they are now in need, & stuck as close as 20km from Brandon. Hopefully help can reach them soon.....

| | Tough situation!!! | | |
Right now for anyone to go out there to help is also putting themselves risk of being stranded. It's a dangerous situation. Even for emergency personal, it's dangerous. |

Very scary sounding situation, said to be hundreds of travelers stranded. This is a video posted from that area earlier:

As far as snow in Brandon up to now, hard to get an accurate measurement with the wind/drifting but for our driveway/street I''d unscientifically say there's maybe 5-7cm on average so far but don''t have to work too hard to find areas that have gotten up to 10. One thing with it is it's quite heavy so if it builds up too much more its going to be a little tougher to drive through/push than a big fluffy dusting of 10cm would be. Will see what we wake up to in the AM. Edited by Adam, 2017-03-06 23:14:39 |

Looks like in addition to the 6am Westjet cancellation, the 1:20 flight will also be a no-go:

| | Just a reminder | | |
Adam posted a link about the deep low pressure we are experiencing, with it being such a deep low it means that a lot of air has to move. We have been looking out our window at near zero visibility for the last 24 hours, was a bit of a break this morning but not for long, and the wind will likely stay up till well into tomorrow.
I usually don't say much about people making decisions for themselves, but please try and stay off the roads in rural areas, visibility is still near zero in many areas, and snow is accumulating is areas at a depth that you won't get through.
Please stay off the roads. |

| | Wind | | |
5pm winds reading at 69km/h gusts to 84 which is actually the highest so far since winds picked up around 24 hrs ago. Environment Canada's Brandon page has the city having gotten 16cm of snow (at the airport) yesterday to go with 3.4mm of rain. A day of wind has really done some impressive (some might even say photogenic) drifting... I can only imagine what it's like in areas that got more snow than we did. |

| | Wind | | |
5am EC reading at Brandon still showing winds at 62 gust 79, but looks like a light at the end of the tunnel going by the updated blizzard warning that's still in place a day and a half after this all started: https://weather.gc.ca/warnings/report_e.html?mb7#102336149456178957201703060501ww1171cwwg Going to hold off celebrating all things weather until we get through tomorrow nights overnight low of -30 Highway map still showing a whole lotta red and even for roads that are open I see at the warning above it's still recommended postponing non essential travel. |
