insomnia

Does anyone have any suggestions for insomnia. I am fiftyish and have insomnia for five years. Even sleeping pills aren't working any more and I have had then changed several times. I am tired of pills. I guess I should mention that I do get about two hours of sleep a night most nights. Usually from six to eight am.

Apps

Have you tried a sleep hypnosis or sleep meditation app? There's one called relax and sleep well that a few people I know swear by.

blankets and scents

Have you tried a weighted blanket ? They seems to help a lot as well as a little aroma therapy. I know there are a lot of options out there and different ideas about what helps.

take

Melatonin you just put it under your tongue at bedtime. Sleep deprivation seems to go with menopause and age. I also have found that gravol works as well.

thanks people,

a couple new ones, and I do remember sleeping with a lot of blankets years ago, and slept well, melatonin didn't work for me. But thanks.

I use Gravol

it allows me about 5 hrs of sleep a night. if I forget to take it I am up after couple hrs. It seems to relax you into sleep. Melatonin did not work for me either. I also use the lavendar sleep lotion from Bath and Body it tends to calm me into sleep. I have heard good things about "Bars" there is going to be a session coming in Cypress River not sure when but soon perhaps? Never tried it but am considering that as well. It sounds like it is a way to reprogram your body....??

Dynamaxx

I tried Dynamaxx for a month and it worked great!! The Lights On drink for the morning gave me energy and the Lights Off for night made me sleep through the night. It was expensive $75 each for a can of mix for a month. If I could afford it I would take it daily! If you are interested in trying some let me know and I can get you some info. Look it up online as well. I think the closest person who sells it is in Saskatchewan, possibly Winnipeg.

Exercise

No need to hit the gym in a serious way, just go for a half hour walk daily. My aging parents found it to be one of the best ways to improve sleep.
