ATV Derby Tips

Hey all,

I was just looking for a little bit of advice or tips on what to expect when going to my first atv derby. Is there anything I should be bringing along that I may not have thought of other then recovery strap, water, tools and such. Is it recommend that my quad is snorkeled as well? Thanks for any help!

derbies are set up that you won't get into too much trouble unless you want to. There will be mud and 4x4ing but usually they are set up so anyone can ride safe and have fun. Deep mud pits and spots needing a snorkel will be an optional detour so I wouldn't worry too much. Rubber boots and splash pants for sure, extra fuel and I carry hand pump/tire plugs incase of flats. If you are still concerned, call the organizers and get the details from them.

Don't have a snorkel on my quad, and never had an issue. We do the same thing as chiko for extras. It's been a couple years and I can't remember if helmets are required.

ATV Derby

Are there any scheduled in the Westman area for this summer? I'd definitely be interested in participating. I'm in for a good ride, but not able to do the muddy pits.

Atv derby

How many miles are most atv derbies? I'm wondering if my Argo would make it around in one afternoon. It cruises at 15-20 mph. A bit slower than a quad.

I seen one at Browns near Souris for next month. That was kinda the one I was looking at maybe going too.

Thanks for the tips everyone I'm excited to go to one. Do you usually need to fuel up a few times a day or would you get by with one tank. Sorry some of these are probably silly questions haha

browns.

yes one tank of fuel will last the day as it is approx 18 miles. there will be wet spots that will require snorkels but there are sry routes that do not require them. helmets are required except for side by sides. wear rubber boots and hip waders would be a good idea.
