Beware so called free draws...

My wife won a "free" draw at the winter fair this year! Turns out it's only free if she agrees to host a sales party and if said party makes over a certain amount in sales. Then we are required to pay taxes on the room.

I knew there were always catches on "free" draws, that's why I rarely enter them, but that's over the top in my mind.

We've told them to forget it. I think companies need to disclose more info about their free draws (at least tell what the catches are).

I know people are going to slam me for this that or the next thing...so be it. I just wanted to warn people that free draws are rarely free!!!

Agree

That one sounds really over the top. I usually am pretty selective where I put my entries. I understand that the vender wants to get you to stop and maybe get you on an email list. This one sounds pretty bazzaar.

not worth a eBrandon rant

This is nothing new. Wedding shows, wellness shows, agriculture shows, etc. Companies do this to collect people's information so they can push their products. It's nice to see you're sticking up for your wife but again this isn't something new.

I agree

I put my name in a draw once for what I thought was free beauty products. Turns out it was just 2 free consultations with a rep for the company. When I got there I told her right off the bat I didn't have money to purchase anything and still she spend the whole time trying to sell me stuff. Needless to say I didn't go to the second one.

won

I won the same draw and declined. This is just another ploy to reel you into these MLM/network marketing companies. If I needed adult products, I just go to smitten.

It's

a free draw. Nobody forced your hand to enter and you clearly did so willingly and wonderful...you won! . Sorry to say but as an above poster said this is a marketing ploy and not worth an eBrandon rant.

I would be interested in knowing for what company it is however.
