When did protecting your property and livelihood become vigilante justice? If these guys hadn't stopped this truck and gas stealing theif, what would have been next? The theif could have thought that the farm was an easy target and returned to break into the house, maybe putting innocent lives at risk or at least scaring them.

My feelings are that they did what was not only prudent to stop the theif but they kept their heads by not beating the snot out of him before handing him over to the police. They sent a message to other theives and low lifes out there that they WILL protect their property - as it is within their rights.

Was this message sent telepathically, email, by phone?

Did you see this on the news, because I didn't; I highly doubt very many people did, let alone anyone on the lower end of the scale of energy.

As soon as the guy saw the farmers he tried to get the hell out of there...he was trying to steal gas, sooo, chances are that he was gonna run out pretty soon; just follow him til he does, with cops on the way.

But yeah, they were prudent not to beat the snot out of him.

Every scenario is different, but in this one they risked their own lives by what they did over a bit of gas...not prudent.

Myself, I'm surprised they didn't have him in the house to have a cup of coffee and some lunch to talk things over until the boys got there...maybe offer him a job or something, to turn things around, ya know?

News gets around so if even one low life scum thinks twice about stealing from a local farmer then that would be good enough for me.

I guess not everyone believes in cowering in their homes or taking it on the chin/wallet.

Again, vigilante justice isn't about protecting your property or self.

When did Canadians become so weak kneed? When did Canadians become so afraid of standing up for themselves in any shape or form and saying ENOUGH!? These farmers said enough and did what was right for them, you or I cannot say if it was brave or foolish because neither of us were there. Besides maybe they saved the theif too because who is to say the next farmer that that theif ripped off didn't subscribe to the buckshot solution.

You're right, we weren't there, and it would be better if we had never heard the story either, because than we wouldn't be wasting our time discussing a pointless conversation.

Weak kneed Canadians? Maybe you would rather have it like the Americans, where everyone is packing or they want to.

No thanks, I'll stick with passive...you can replace things, you can't replace a life.
