Highly regarded tabla performer visits BU for concert, workshop

Shawn Mativetsky will perform a solo tabla concert on Friday, March 24 at Brandon University.

Noted Canadian tabla performer Shawn Mativetsky is bringing his expertise as an educator and a performer to Brandon University (BU) on Friday, March 24.

Mativetsky will deliver a tabla/rhythm workshop in Kinsmen Hall of the Queen Elizabeth II Music Building from 12:40 – 1:30 p.m. All students and faculty are welcome to attend.

Mativetsky will return to the Music Building for an 8:15 p.m. solo tabla concert in the Student Lounge. Mativetsky’s performance, Rivers, is billed as a rhythmic journey to Varanasi, India. It will include a guest performance by Parmela Attariwala on violin.

Admission to both events is free.
