Portage la Prairie has been named the host venue for the Canadian Mixed Doubles Olympic Curling Trials.
It’s the first time ever the event is being held after Reid Carruthers and Joanne Courntey secured Canada’s spot in the Olympic event at the World Championship last week.
7 teams are already qualified:
Joanne Courtney and Reid Carruthers
Marliese Kasner and Dustin Kalthoff
Rachel Homan and John Morris
Jennifer Jones and Brent Laing
Chelsea Carey and Colin Hodgson
Kalynn Virtue and Charley Thomas
Emma Miskew and Tyrel Griffith
The remaining 11 team will be decided by the 10 highest non-qualified teams and the winner of a regional bonspiel in the fall.
The trials, featuring 18 teams, will take place at Stride Place January 3rd to the 8th.
The champions will represent Canada at the Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
