The Elton Sabers have earned their first ever playoff berth in boys rugby.
Elton earned their spot on Friday with a 37-12 win over Swan Valley.
Coach Shawn Sarkonak says it’s a big rebound from a winless 2016 season.
"Got our first win back in 2015. So I thought in 2016 we could keep growing from there but we had some growing pains."
Sarkonak added that with 26 players, their largest roster since joining the league in 2014, they have quite a lot of depth this year.
"5 players represented on Manitoba provincials teams. 3 on the U18 team and 2 on the under 16 team."
The Sabers close out the regular season Friday against Minnedosa.
