A young rodeo competitor is recovering back home in Brandon after being injured while competing at a rodeo in Grunthal.

The Heartland Rodeo Finals were taking place on the weekend when the accident happened. Rod Gladue is President of the Hearltand Rodeo Association. “We had a young guy that went down and the steer stepped on him. The medics that were there you know they did a wonderful job. He had some pain so they decided to call in an ambulance and he went to hospital for further tests.”

The boy, who was around 10 or 11, was transported by Stars to hospital in Winnipeg.

Gladue added after further testing it was determined the boy had a mild concussion and he returned home on Sunday night.
