Fund raising continues for a major upgrade of the Turtle Mountain Bible Camp located in southwestern Manitoba.

The camp is replacing its aging kitchen and dining hall with a new facility. The camp season is winding down and Turtle Mountain Bible Camp enjoyed one of if not its best year ever. “We had a record number of campers with 680 kids registered this year” said camp co-director Kathy Weir.

Camp workers and volunteers have been busy raising money and hope to have the new kitchen and dining hall opened for the 2018 camp season.

“We've got our new building underway and we've got it closed in and we want it finished for next summer and that is our goal” said Weir.

On September 24th Turtle Mountain Bible Camp will hold an event so people can come out and see how the new facility has progressed. The “Come and See” program will take place from 2:00 until 4:30pm.

“The building is closed in and we are just finishing the siding and brick work. Some of the electrical is being done. As long as the funds are there we are going to keep moving ahead.”

The group still needs to raise $1 million but Weir says they remain optimistic they will be in the new facility next year.

Coming off a record year for registrations camp officials say the future looks bright. Weir credits the staff for helping attract more campers in 2017.
