Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – It wasn’t a Picasso by any means, but the Brandon Wheat Kings will take the two points they earned on Tuesday night.
Brandon had to claw back from down two goals, three times in a 6-5 overtime win over the Calgary Hitmen at Westman Place.
Seven players had multi-point nights including Kale Clague who quietly went about his business and picked up four assists.
The teams were tied at two after forty minutes in a game that didn’t have a whole lot of quality scoring chances at the 2nd intermission.
The goal scoring touch was saved for the third period as the teams combined for six goals, including a late Wheat Kings 6 on 4 powerplay goal with the goalie pulled to force overtime.
In the extra frame, Ty Lewis wasted little time. He walked between two Calgary defenders and beat Nick Schneider for his 10th of the season to give Brandon the win.
Logan Thompson made 27 saves for the victory, while Schneider turned aside 17 shots in the losing effort.
Brandon has now won three in a row and will look to make it four straight when they head to Saskatoon on Friday night. (7:05 on Q-Country Radio)
