Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – A banner of Turk Broda will be delivered to the Keystone Centre this weekend.
The banner comes from the Toronto Maple Leafs, as they have been delivering 18 banners to the hometowns of the players they have honoured.
Broda’s hometown was Brandon, as he played for the Winnipeg Monarchs, Detroit Olympics and most of his career in Toronto, winning five Stanley Cups, two Vezina Trophy’s, and being named a Top 100 player of all-time by the NHL.
Former Wheat King and Maple Leaf Bill Derlago and daughter of Broda, Barb Tushingham will be at the banner ceremony at Sunday’s Wheat Kings game at 4pm.
