Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – The Brandon Wheat Kings got multi-point nights from eight different players on route to a 7-3 win over the Swift Current Broncos on Sunday afternoon.

Stelio Mattheos (2G-1A) and Cole Reinhardt (1G-2A) lead the way offensively for Brandon who exploded for three goals in a 9:00 span in the 2nd period to break the game open.

After jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, the Wheat Kings found themselves in penalty trouble and the Broncos quickly capitalized, scoring on a five on three and an major penalty to Tanner Kaspick to draw the game back to even.

After the Broncos took an early 2nd period lead, it was all Brandon. The Wheat Kings got goals from Evan Weinger, Ty Lewis and Connor Gutenberg as well as Zach Wytinck who registered his first career WHL goal while also adding an assist.

Logan Thompson turned aside 38 shots for the win, while Logan Flodell stopped 29 shots in the losing effort.

Brandon finished the night 3/5 on the powerplay, while killing off four of six Bronco man advantages.

The Wheat Kings open up a nine day, six game road trip through Saskatchewan and Alberta on Friday night in Swift Current. (7:05 on Q-Country Radio)
