Lethbridge, AB (CKLQ) – Evan Weinger’s two shorthanded goals in the first period were all the Wheat Kings would need as they cruised to a 5-1 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Friday night.
Weinger, who hails from El Segundo, California also added an assist for a three point night as the Wheat Kings won their 4th in a row and moved to 18-7-0-1 on the season.
Ty Lewis (1G-1A) and Connor Gutenberg (1G-1A) also had multi-point nights for Brandon.
Logan Thompson got the start in goal after back to back nights as a healthy scratch due to a log-jam of overage players and turned aside 32 shots for the victory.
Brandon was only given one powerplay on the night and were unable to convert, while their penalty kill was a perfect 4/4 while chipping in offensively with two goals.
Brandon’s Calen Addison scored the lone Hurricanes goal, his 6th of the season.
The Wheat Kings move to 4-1-0-0 on this road trip and will wrap it all up Saturday night in Medicine Hat. (8:00 pre-game show on Q-Country)
