Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – The Brandon Wheat Kings continued to roll on Saturday night as they beat the Kelowna Rockets 7-4 in front of over 4000 fans at Westman Place.
Seven players registered multi-point nights while Logan Thompson kicked aside 26 shots for his 17th win of the season.
The win, brings the Wheaties win streak to eight games and improves their record to 13-2-0-1 on home ice.
Tanner Kaspick (1G-3A) & Stelio Mattheos (1G-3A) lead the way offensively for Brandon, while Ty Lewis scored twice and added an assist on route to being named the game’s first star.
For the 2nd straight night, Brandon chased the opponent’s starting goaltender. James Porter was pulled after allowing four goals on eleven shots. Roman Basran came on in relief and made 12 saves on 14 shots.
Cole Reinhardt, Evan Weinger and Linden McCorrister added singles for Brandon who finished the night 2/4 on the powerplay.
Brandon will continue their five game home stand on Tuesday night when the Kamloops Blazers come to town. (7:00 on QCountry Radio)
