Spokane, WA (CKLQ) – Bailey Brkin turned aside 21 shots on route to his 1st career WHL shutout on Wednesday night as the Spokane Chiefs knocked off the Brandon Wheat Kings 3-0.
Edmonton Oilers prospect Kailer Yamamoto scored and added an assist for the Chiefs who also got goals from Milos Fafrak and Ethan McIndoe.
Brandon got a 32 save performance from Logan Thompson but failed to convert on five powerplay opportunities.
The loss was the first time the Wheat Kings have been shut out this season. The Chiefs last shutout victory over Brandon came back on November 4th, 2001 when they won 5-0 at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena.
The Wheat Kings will continue their seven-game road trip tomorrow night when they kick off a three in three weekend in Kennewick, WA vs the Tri-City Americans. (9:05 MB on QCountry Radio.)
