Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – The Brandon Wheat Kings let another lead slip away on Friday night in a 3-2 loss to the Prince George Cougars.
The Wheat Kings lead 2-1 after 40 minutes but couldn’t hang on as the Cougars clawed back for the win, snapping their four game losing streak.
Jared Bethune was named the game’s first star after recording a goal and two assists. Bethune scored the game tying goal while shorthanded and chipped in with an assist on the game winning goal. Meanwhile, Ilijah Colina had a pair of goals on the night, his 5th and 6th tallies of the season.
Evan Weinger and Linden McCorrister had the goals for the Wheat Kings who got 29 saves from Logan Thompson.
17-year-old Isaiah DiLaura was solid between the pipes for the Cougars making 28 saves for his 2nd win of his career.
Brandon has now lost nine in a row, and will look to get back in the win column tonight when they take on the Red Deer Rebels. (7:30 on QCountry Radio.)
