Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – It was business as usual for the Brandon Bobcats volleyball teams as they both beat the MacEwan Griffins on Saturday night at the Healthy Living Centre.
In the women’s game, Mary Thomson was one kill away from earning a triple-double, finishing with 37 assists and 11 digs as the Bobcats won in four sets.
Nikala Majewski go 13 kills on the night, with Michelle Egger getting 12 kills and three aces in the match.
The Bobcats finished with nine aces on the night.
Cassidy Kinsella let the way for MacEwan with 11 kills.
With the win, the Bobcats improve to 10-10 on the year, and sit in the 7th spot in Canada West.
In the men’s game, Seth Friesen and Elliot Viles combined for 28 kills as Brandon won in three straight sets.
Brandon got 7 aces in the game, compared to the Griffins’ 2.
Viles succeeded on 45% of his kill attempts in the game, while Friesen converted on 39% percent of his kills.
Brandon cliches a playoff spot with the win and is two games up on Winnipeg for a home series in the first round of the playoffs.
