Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – It’s a winner-take-all game Friday night in Winnipeg, as the BU Bobcats men’s basketball team takes on the Manitoba Bisons.
The two teams will play in the one-game playoff to figure out who will move on to the next round.
The two teams squared off in November in Winnipeg, with each team winning a game over the weekend series.
Brandon won the first game 88-85 in overtime when Tyvon Cooper scored the game winning three-point shot with less than two seconds left on the clock. The next night, Manitoba won 85-84 with two free throws near the end of the game.
Head Coach Gil Cheung says the two teams are very evenly matched.
He says on defense they need to watch out for the Bisons "three-headed monster" of Justus Alleyn, James Wagner and Rashawn Brown.
Alleyn leads the Canada West with points per game with 24.2 points per game.
Cheung says the strength of the the Bobcats is their strength.
"We can put out a number of lineups and I’ll be confident in a lot of them." said Cheung.
He adds, that with the one-game playoff, he’ll try not to put too much pressure on the team.
"We got to be ready, but we’re going to treat like any other game," said Cheung.
"We just want them to perform the best they can."
The game starts at 7:30pm at the Max Bell Centre in Winnipeg.
