Mark Scheifele scored twice and Tyler Myers snapped home the winner 2:35 into overtime as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Washington Capitals 4-3 Tuesday night at Bell MTS Place.

With Dustin Byfuglien in the penalty box serving a minor penalty for slashing and goaltender Connor Hellebucyk on the bench for an extra attacker, Scheifele found the puck in the slot, and his shot threw the legs of Capitals netminder Braden Holtby tied the game at 3-3 with 15 seconds remaining in the third period.

Bryan Little scored his 12th of the season at 11:30 of the third period which cut Washington's lead to 3-2.

The win snapped the Jets two-game home ice losing skid.

"It was huge," said Scheifele when asked how big that victory over the Capitals was. "There were a lot of parts of that game we didn't like and to show that resiliency to fight until the buzzer shows a lot about this group. We needed that one."

Scheifele also drew an assist on Myers' OT winner.

Nicklas Backstrom, Andre Burakvosky and John Carlson did the goal scoring for Washington.

Winnipeg outshot the Capitals 44-27.

The Jets (33-15-9) continue their 10-game homestand Friday against the Colorado Avalanche.
