Swift Current, SK (CKLQ) – The Brandon Wheat Kings played one of their most complete games of the season but couldn’t mount a comeback as the Swift Current Broncos picked up a 4-2 win on Wednesday night.

The Broncos opened the scoring in the first period as Colby Sissons took a nifty pass through his legs and ripped a shot over the blocker of Dylan Myskiw. The Broncos would fire 21 shots on goal in the period but Myskiw stood on his head, making 20 saves.

Ty Lewis would tie the game midway through the 2nd period as he recorded his 30th goal of the season, beating Stuart Skinner. Just 0:33 second later the Broncos would respond, Josh Anderson fed a perfect pass to Kole Gable who fired home his 6th of the season to regain the lead.

The Wheat Kings wouldn’t let the quick response take the wind out of their sales however, Rylan Bettens beat Skinner just moments later to tie the game back up heading to the 2nd intermission.

Tyler Steenbergen gave the Broncos an early 3rd period lead, and despite a pair of powerplays the Wheat Kings couldn’t draw even. Glenn Gawdin would seal the game with an empty net goal with just 11.2 seconds remaining in regulation.

Brandon finished the night 0/3 on the powerplay and killed off both Broncos man advantages.

Dylan Myskiw turned in aside his best performance of the year, making 29 saves while Skinner stopped 17 of 19 in the Bronco goal.

Brandon will continue their busy week on Friday in Prince Albert when they kick off a home and home vs the Raiders. (7:00 on QCountry Radio)
