Some announcements were made by the province in their budget release about enhancements made to the public school's finance board process. Portage MLA Ian Wishart outlines what they're about.

"We had been doing, as a government, an analysis of P3s as to whether or not they were tools that would work for our government," explains Wishart. "We learned an awful lot in that process. The five schools that we announced today aren't going to be built with the P3 process."

Wishart says some schools they built were unique, one of a kind projects. He says the P3 model did not provide the economies on scale that are available with today's tendering processes. He notes, that learning experience they were able to build an extra school through working on that type of approach. Wishart adds the public schools finance ward was used, noting they were very successful in the past, and their expertise will be used to enhance the bid process.
