Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – The Brandon AAA Midget Wheat Kings are headed to the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League finals.
The Wheaties beat the Winnipeg Bruins in Game 3 of the semi-finals at the Sportsplex.
In the first period, Lynden McCallum scored his fifth goal of the playoffs with a shot near the point to make it 1-0 for Brandon.
Winnipeg tied it up in the second period when Jayson Szun scored on a breakaway and beat Dawson Green on the blocker side.
It didn’t take long for Brandon to respond and put themselves back in front when Calder Anderson received a behind the back pass from Lynden McCallum to make it 2-1.
The Bruins had a chance late but failed to put one past Green.
With the win, Brandon moves on to the finals and will take on the Winnipeg Wild.
The Wild swept the Winnipeg Thrashers to advance to the finals.
Game 1 takes place on Thursday in Winnipeg.
