Winkler, MB (CKLQ) – It wasn’t easy, but the Virden Oil Capitals beat the Winkler Flyers in Game 4 in the MJHL semi-final series.
The Oil Capitals fell 4-0 to the Flyers, who were fighting for their playoff lives, down 3-0 in the best-of-seven series.
But almost two minutes after falling down 4-0, the Oil Capitals got on the board after a goal by Rylee Zimmer.
It didn’t take long until Virden started coming back with three more goals in four minutes time to tie the game at 4.
Winkler ended up scoring once more, after a goal by Weiland Parrish with three minutes left to go in the second.
In the third period, Ben Dalke tied the game five minutes into the period.
Dylan Thiessen scored the game winner with less than three minutes left to go in the game.
With the win, Virden moves onto the championship series, where they will take on either Steinbach or Winnipeg.
It is their first time making the finals, since arriving in Virden in 2013.
