A man is facing an assault with a weapon charge after he was arrested on Saturday, say police.

Officers responded to a stabbing in the 400 block of Sargent Street at about 4:30 a.m. on Saturday. Police say a 36-year-old man was taken to hospital in unstable condition with stab wounds to his upper body. He has since been upgraded to stable.

Police say two men were taken into custody at around 5:54 a.m. after officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Pacific Avenue West and Worth Street.

Investigators say a 36-year-old man, known to the victim, has been arrested and is facing charges in connection to the incident.

A 25-year-old man was also arrested after the traffic stop for an outstanding warrant. Police say he is not connected to the stabbing incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
