Police have arrested seven people in connection with the stabbing of a 17-year-old boy early Saturday morning.

Investigators say the victim was waiting for a ride in the area of Mountain Avenue and Salter Street when he was approached by a group of people. Several people started assaulting the victim and during the beating someone pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the upper body.

Police have since arrested seven people including a 13-year-old boy and two 14-year-old girls.

Aaron Dean Laquette, 19 years, Cody Henry Bousquet, 20 years and Carlson Christopher Witeway, 19 years are facing the following charges: aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Whiteway and Bousquet are also facing a breach of probation. Laquette was wanted on an outstanding warrant and charges for failing to comply with a recognizance.

Jordan Lee Fisher, 20 years and the 13-year-old boy are also facing charges of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

One of the 14-year-old girls is facing charges of theft under $5000.00 while the other is facing an aggravated assault charge. Both have been released on a promise to appear.

The adult males are being detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre and the 13-year-old has been released for a future court date.

The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to stable.
