Hundreds of volunteers and employees from companies across Winnipeg picked up a paint brush for a good cause Saturday, painting nearly a dozen homes as part of "Brush-up Winnipeg".

"It's win-win," says Tom Ethans with Take Pride Winnipeg. "Teams get to work together from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to rejuvenate this home and property and make the homeowner just feel fantastic about themselves."

Corporate teams from Starbucks, Manitoba Lotteries and Winnipeg Realtors joined community groups to paint 10 properties for homeowners who are unable to do the work themselves. Property owners are eligible for the good will if they are over 65-years old or have a permanent disability and reside in a home that needs painting.

Take Pride Winnipeg organized the event with the aim of beautifying city properties. Since 2006, volunteers with Take Pride's Brush-up event have painted 39 homes throughout the city.
